Recently, Trent Bridge Community Trust’s YouNG project hosted its annual Christmas Market on Gordon Rd, West Bridgford (Outside the Test Match pub). The event took place in conjunction with Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Christmas lights switch on, on Central Avenue and was attended by thousands of visitors.
Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed perusing an array of stalls held by young entrepreneurs and listening to a host of entertainment by performers from around Rushcliffe. Youngsters had the opportunity to go and see Santa in his grotto outside the Test Match pub and collect some goodies to get in to the Christmas Spirit!
The YouNG Project’s Aaliyah Clifford said “The day was a valuable experience, not just for the young stallholders but also as a staff member, I really saw the young people engaging with the public and learning entrepreneurial skills during the event.”
There were some excellent performances on stage including the band Best of Us performing indie hits, Caitlin Ledger on her electro-acoustic guitar and culminating in shows from West Bridgford Girl Guides, Rattle and Roll; and a nativity performed by Stage Coach to add to the Christmas Cheer.
Overall, it was an excellent day, with one stallholder making “£95 profit, some of which was donated towards a charity close to his heart. We had a lovely day and it was very well organised”. Thank you to everyone that came on the day, to all our stallholders and performers, to the Test Match Hotel and all the Gordon Road Businesses and to Rushcliffe Borough Council for their support with our projects and events
